GenNext to get new tech, biz at TVS cos

CHENNAI: The elevation of Sudarshan Venu and his sister Lakshmi Venu, children of TVS Motor chairman emeritus Venu Srinivasan, to the corner rooms in TVS Motor and Sundaram Clayton (SCL) respectively will see the two automotive companies actively diversify geographies and consolidate footprint in new age businesses.

According to analysts and business consultants, the two siblings, who have had a long initiation process in their respective companies, will bring in new technology and business diversification but without diluting the essential culture of the group.

Auto analysts said diversified product offerings, aggressive capital deployment into new age electric mobility and a strong premium two-wheeler portfolio are all big pluses for TVS, and Sudarshan’s imprint on the company is already clearly visible on this count. Similarly Lakshmi Venu’s decision to set up a foundry in the US in 2019 in Dorchester, South Carolina helped SCL cater to US-based customers.
